Madame is BACK!

Get Ready to Welcome Back an Iconic Puppet! Celebrated for her bold humor and vibrant vernacular, Madame was a defining star of late-night television during the 1970s and 80s. While many puppeteers let their creations take center stage, it’s essential to recognize the remarkable talent behind Madame: Wayland Flowers. A proud Georgian, he significantly influenced the West Coast performance scene and stood out as one of the era's few openly gay entertainers. Tragically, he succumbed to the AIDS epidemic in 1988, but his legacy endures, keeping him an integral part of American puppetry history.

This summer, MADAME is making her triumphant return to the Pilgrim House. Thrilled to be back on our main stage, she is eager to entertain audiences once again! Returning to Provincetown and the Pilgrim House represents a heartfelt homecoming. It was right here, decades ago, that Wayland and Madame were discovered. Madame is also excited to introduce her "much younger" partner, Jeffery. Join us in welcoming Madame back to the live stage at Pilgrim House in 2025.
